Collection: Niko Kukhaleishvili

Niko discovered his passion for painting during early childhood. He graduated from an Art School in Russia in 2005 and since then took master classes from a number of well know artists. For Niko, painting from life and participating in open air sessions played a significant role in his artistic development. "One day I realized that the best teacher is painting from nature," he reflects.

In April 2017, he took part in a open air event held in Tbilisi with artists from various cities. His first plein air experience in the old city inspired him to create architectural landscapes. In the fall of 2018, he participated in a three-month plein air session in Samegrelo.

In 2019, he held a solo exhibition, "Painting with an Accent," at the Novosibirsk Museum. From 2019 to 2022, Niko participated in numerous regional and interregional exhibitions. In 2023, he presented a solo exhibition, "My Routes," in Tbilisi and actively began painting the streets of Old Tbilisi, focusing on exteriors, courtyards, doors, and windows.

In October 2024, Niko held a solo exhibition at the Georgian Art Palace Museum, showcasing 70 works. His paintings are featured in private collections in the United States, Germany, Italy, and Russia.

Currently, he continues to explore his beloved theme of Old Tbilisi.

"Many people ask what motivates me to paint old doors and facades. The answer is simple: Tbilisi is an extraordinary, vibrant city. Its character is vividly expressed in these ancient streets, colorful courtyards, and facades with unique doors and windows that embody the history of several generations. We have inherited this history in its living form, and we must not lose it."
